Happy Hour!

Last night a dear friend and I went to The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing for a fabulous happy hour!
We got really lucky and had seats at the bar right next to the open patio.  It was such an amazing night out so our seats were perfect!
The Boathouse has a great happy hour, but you have to sit at the bar.  They have half off sushi and pizza, and drink specials, such as half off wine util 7 pm Monday thru Friday.  I highly recommend trying this out! Suz and I got the spicy tuna roll and the mussels appetizer.  Ah-mazinggg
I forgot to take a before picture because I was too excited to dig in...  So here's the "after"! Delicious!  After dinner, someone had ordered a bueberry martini, so of course we had to try one!  Our fabulous bartender Tyler talked us in to trying the blueberry lemonade too.  It has 3 1/2 shots of liquor in it, but let me tell you - I think it's my new favorite summer drink!  It's a must try!

We had such a great time catching up, discussing upcoming plans for another dear friend's baby shower, and planning a business!

Needless to say, The Boathouse at Rockets Landing is a definite must for summer happy hour stops with a perfect patio and amazing views of the city!  And make sure to say hello to  Tyler!

Bling Bling!

Gem ring, $238

I am loving stackable rings right now!  I first saw the Marco Bicego rings a few years back and was absolutely in love, however they are about $750 per ring!  Let's just say that's out of my budget!  I recently found Robindira Unsworth jewelry, which has the same type of rings, but for around $100 per ring, or if you buy multiple at one time you get them for cheaper per ring.  I just love these because you can mix and match, wear one, two, or three rings at a time!  I'm thinking this would be a perfect accessory for all the summer weddings I have coming up!  And I think it's worth the investment because of the different options you have wearing them!

Today's inspiration

Flowers always put me in a good mood, and I'm thinking that any day I wear a flower, would be a good day!

I definitely need one of these!  Or maybe a few ;)
Found at Emerson Made

Do it yourself project

Owning your own home is definitely quite costly.  Always some thing to fix, and of course, if you are anything like me, there will always be some thing you want to redecorate or remodel.

I have been without a roommate for a year now so money has been a little bit more tight, but I found a great way to jazz up my back porch so that it is more inviting and enjoyable.

I started with these free chippendale planters from my parents, that are probably around 20 years old.  You could definitely tell...  They are borderline dry-rotting!
I went to Lowe's and I bought a can of spray paint.  Total cost $3.00
Easiest do-it-yourself project!  Took me all of 20 minutes.  Only problem was my right arm was sore for about 2 days from spray painting!  Does that mean I'm out of shape?!

Final result!  I bought 2 New Gunea Impatients to brighten up the back porch.  They were $16.99 a piece.  Not bad huh?  And the best part is, they require no sun!  Perfect :)

I also went to Target and bought these for my little table and chairs set.  Just a minor redecorate, but it has made such a difference!

Mother's Day Luncheon

After much planning, and a a few stressful moments of wondering if the cooking was going to be done on time, with a little help from my wonderful sister Marci, the luncheon was a success!

The delicious food that got eaten right up! See recipes in post below.

Turned out to be a fabulous day, and hopefully a new tradition :)

Dreaming of a tan...

With all of this amazing weather we have been having lately, I have been wanting to wear dresses, but of course I still have the pale winter legs/body action going on...  I must fix this immediately!  I'm thinking this will help...

Stila Custom Color Blush, $20
MAC Bronzing Powder, $23
LORAC SelfTANtalizer Body Bronzing Gradual Self-Tanner & Mitt 5 oz, $34
LORAC TANtalizer Body Bronzing Luminizer 5.7 oz, $32

I have already tried the LORAC Body Bronzing Luminizer, and I must say that it did make me feel fabulous, the only down side was that it did rub off on my clothing.  It acts as more of a "make-up" for your skin, and doesn't actually stay put.  The good thing is it washes right off your skin, so if by chance you applied it wrong and have streaking, it's an easy fix!

I went to Ulta the other day to purchase the LORAC Selftantalizer Self-Tanner, but unfortunately they were all sold out!  I'm hoping, since it's a self-tanner, that stays put, and doesn't rub off on clothes.  Since it's from the same line as the bronzing luminizer, I'm sure I will love the look!  Can't wait to buy it!  I'll let y'all know how that one works out...

I must rave about the Stila Custom Color Blush.  It appears to be hot pink, but when you apply it to your skin, it somehow magically gives you the perfect tinted blush!  I have used it when I have been tan, as well as during my current pale-ness.  I love it!  Not to mention, for a fabulous $20, it lasts forever!

Clearly everyone needs a fabulous bronzer, and how amazing would this eye shadow make you feel?!  Paired with the rest of these fabulous finds, you will be glowing, perfect for summer dresses!

Udi's now has BUNS!

In August of last year, I found out that I am highly allergic to Gluten, which is found in bread, pasta, cookies, etc...  Basically everything good!  So needless to say, I have had to say "good-bye" to all my favorite foods.  Now don't get me wrong, I still eat bread, pasta, cookies, etc., they are just the gluten free versions, which is definitely not as satisfying!

I have had a very difficult time finding good buns for hotdogs and hamburgers, so I have been eating my burgers wrapped in lettuce, which just isn't as good!  Well the best news came to me today in an ad!!

Udi's now has hamburger buns and hotdog buns!  I can now enjoy summer cookouts with everyone!! Halleluliah!

**By the way, if any of you are allergic to gluten as well, and don't already know, Udi's has the absolute BEST products, so try them!!**

This Weeks Planning - Mother's Day

I have always been quite a planner...from planning my future (even though it usually doesn't go as planned), to recording my every move in a calendar, even planning my outfits out on a calendar to make sure I never wore the same thing with in at least 2 weeks of eachother in high school (even though I hate to admit it, it's a true story!)

Needless to say, I feel like I constantly have to a have a project or something in planning mode.  This week it's planning a Mother's Day Luncheon for all of the women in my family.  Even though my family is very close, "just us girls" hardly ever get together.  And with the majority of women in my family, 9 out of 13, being mom's now, it is time to celebrate!

Here's the plan so far:

Main Dish:
Chicken & Strawberry Salad
Chicken-and-Strawberry Salad Recipe
This is such an easy and fantastic salad that is light and fresh!

Side dishes:
Summer Potato Salad

Bacon Wrapped Breadsticks

And finally dessert!  The best part of any meal :)
Luscious Orange Panna Cotta

All of these recipes are super easy, and can be made in advance!

And for a beverage I'm making this:
Mom-Mosa - As seen in the May 2011 issue of Southern Living

Decor is still "to be determined".  I'll update with pictures on Monday!  So stay tuned :)

Welcome to my new blog!  I finally decided to join the blogging world to share some of my favorite things with everyone!

Of course, basically my absolute favorite thing is Pineapples!  Kate Spade is one of my favorite designers, and in her current collection she seems to be just about as obsessed with pineapples as I am!  I'll have one of each please! :)
